Sarissa – Javascript library for AJAX – level 200

Evaluate Sarissa, the cross-browser javascript library for javascript Http requests. It makes a server call from javascript require only a few lines on the client page.

Maybe it’s just me, but compared to Prototype, Sarissa looks downright painful. 😉

If you want to see how simple Ajax can be, hit up http://prototype.conio.net/ and check out Rico, Behaviour, and Effects (script.tacul.ous) while you’re at it.

Note: You can get Prototype 1.4 through the repository, which fixes a content-length bug, but you’ll still need to modify the evalScripts Regex to include r if your editor of choice spits out DOS style newlines.

For both Sarissa and Prototype are part of the solution. You also need a way to handle things on the server side… I’ll leave it at that.
