ASP.NET MVC in Action spotted at Barnes and Noble

I couldn’t resist being a little excited when I saw our book, ASP.NET MVC in Action, at the Barnes and Noble bookstore at the Arboretum in Austin, TX.  Here is a picture of it.

On a more interesting note, googling for “asp.net mvc in action” brings of some good results but also a site where a pirated copy of the ebook can be had.  I’m not too upset about this.  It’s the same issue with movies and music.  I realize that the people who pirate the book likely are not the same people who would pay for the book.

On another interesting note, I just discovered that the computer science department at Texas A&M University will be using ASP.NET MVC in Action as one of their textbooks.

I think PDF reading is horrendous. There is nothing that compares the actual paper book, no matter what kind of ereader you have(Kindle,Sony etc).

So I think people who are actually reading books are going to buy it anyways :)(I have!). I think the pirates are mostly leachers. I bet even 0.1% of the people downloading illegaly might not be actually reading the book :)

Congrats! Great work. Of course I'm freakin jealous at the bookstores you have there. Lots of great selection just in that photo. I don't get that kind of good variety here.

Well done! You deserve to be excited! I'm still eagerly awaiting my copy of the book (that I ordered on MEAP) to arrive - so much so that I've been popping into my local book store every few days to see if they've started stocking them yet!

I always buy the book I read, pdf is really bad respect to old paper. The stuff I do not like very much, is that since I spent money to buy printed copy, it would be nice if I can legally download a pdf copy. Pdf is really good for searching, expecially in very big books.

@Craig,

I'll send a note to Manning to make sure your book is on the way.

@Gian,

With our book, if you buy the print copy, you get the ebook included.

Clean Code is a good book to be next too. I've already read most of both books. Good stuff Jeff!

Have all the MEAP books been sent out yet? I haven't yet received it or any notice of Manning that they've shipped it... Anxiously awaiting its arrival though :-)

@efdee,

The books have started going out, and MEAP subscribers should have their books (or this week). You can contact support [AT] manning.com to inquire directly.

I originally bought the ebook, but then decided I also wanted the dead tree version so that I could read it on the exercise bike.

It's an exciting book, and I hope you guys come back in 6 months or a year and publish a second edition with updated coverage.

Another good Manning book is NHibernate in Action!
